Country Crossing located outside of Dothan, Alabama has been surrounded by controversy over the past few months as Alabama state government officials and Country Crossing Developer Ronnie Gilley battle it out over gambling laws in Alabama. While I am not taking an official position I could not help to think of wasted money as I flew over the Country Crossing grounds earlier today. We circled the Country Crossing facility a couple times from 2000 feet to check the place out. I did not visit Country Crossing before the forewarned raid by state officials. From the air it appears a lot of money was spent developing the property. You can also see from the air additional space where the developers plan to expand the facility. Country Crossing can create many jobs at the facility and with many supporting companies in the local community. Alabama citizens have a big decision ahead of them deciding gambling laws. I would hate to guess the amount of tax payer dollars being spent to fight this bill on both sides. With the difficult economy we face here in Alabama I hope both parties figure something out soon and stop wasting tax payer dollars. I would rather spend tax payer dollars on bettering our education system rather than parking Alabama State Troopers outside Country Crossing.
Here are the aerial pictures I took this afternoon. You can see the main building, rv parking area in the rear, and the large amphitheater that Country Crossing calls the “Party Pavilion”.

Awesome pix. great job brother! It’s sad to see it all closed down & all those lost jobs just because some jerk is getting kick backs from the neighbors to the west!
I agree the jobs Country Crossing would generate for people in the Dothan area would be a great things. Over the past few weeks I have read of many local businesses shutting their doors. The local Sony factory is shutting down leaving MANY people without jobs.
I work there a long with about 1200 more people and it breaks my heart that the doors are closed, but you know what I think it will reopen soon. It’s something that everyone should be very proud. Most would like to see something like this in our community ,that’s why it’s so hard for me to understand why something so good could be talk about so bad by a few people in Alabama.Gov Riley and His task for better think about what they are doing. The sun don’t shine up the same hog’s azz all the time,if you know what I mean. My bother use to say that all the time and I have learned it’s a very true statement. CC will reopen soon count on it.
1200 people to go from thinking they have a job to no job is a lot of people for a small town community like Dothan.
I did not realize they had a big thing out there Saturday night. From looking at other pictures on the net it appears the large white tent beside the main building was used for people at the concert over the weekend.
Can’t wait till it re-opens again soon. Everyone of those parking places will be filled just like they were when it first opened..
To imagine it’s closed because of a Governor that is getting rich off Mississippi. If people aren’t mad about this they need to be.
To think of the money that will go toward charities and the taxes for Houston County. Look at the Education job losses. Wake up Alabama, it time to wake up we are living in hard times. We need the ecconomic growth for our state!
Maybe we will finally see Country Crossing reopen. Read up to date news on Country Crossing here. http://www.rickystokesnews.com/
Thanks

Country Crossing is set to reopen…. wait hold on. No they are not going to reopen. The state government needs to figure out what they are going to do. A number of people in the Dothan area can use the jobs. Not to mention the tax dollars generated from this place can help Dothan City Schools which is getting ready to let many teachers go.

The state government and parties involved continue to go head to head on Country Crossing reopening. It is very sad the state and local government are spending tax payer dollars on this matter while teachers and other public interest needs go unmet. Maybe this matter will be resolved sometime soon.
Ronnie Gilley stated in a news conference last week and on a television news show last night that he wanted the authorities to come arrest him. Today the wish came true. Perhaps now a court day will be set. Country Crossing in Dothan, AL has created heated controversy and the end does not seem to be near.

I watched the story on Beyond the Headline last night concerning Country Crossings. Maybe they will get this thing figured out and get it in court. One of two things will happen. CC will reopen or it will not.
