Recently I designed and fabricated a vertical band saw conversion for use with a Milwaukee Porta Band. The porta band saw bolts to the conversion kit using the 3 screws that mount the material stop. The porta band can still be used as intended from the factory by simply unbolting it from the base.
I am selling the Milwaukee Porta Band and the vertical conversion. I bought the saw used to prototype this saw. I did repaint the saw and repack the bearings. It is in perfect working condition. The vertical band saw conversion features a 1/4″ thick CNC laser cut steel base, a channel for a miter guage, and base bolted to it CNC laser cut from 1/8″ steel plate. This is a very solid built tool.
The intended use for this type of conversion is to hand cut metal brackets, tabs, and even nothing round tubing. Because the porta band was originally designed to cut metal it works perfectly in this configuration.
