fresh_trucking-business-cardsFresh Starts Transportation and Produce contacted me a few months ago about building a custom business card design for their trucking / produce company.  The company operates two separate divisions to focus on transportation and the other to broker produces goods.  The client’s suggestion was to incorporate a lot of different information on the card to highlight each business.  We recommended to Fresh Starts to keep the business card design simple in an effort not confuse people.  Fresh Starts did not have a well defined company logo, but I was able to take a concept they had going and polish the look.  Based of of the information given we designed a clean professional looking business card to represent their trucking and produce business.

The business cards will feature spot UV.  The yellow section of the business cards front and rear will not be coated.  The remaining section of the card will be UV coated to make it shiny.  The client will be able to write on the matte finish areas of the cards if needed.

QR Code Business Card Design Durden Outdoor

Saturday, February 26th, 2011

qr-code-business-cardsThe Durden Outdoor business card project is much more involved than what appears when reading this blog post.  I have been working with Durden Outdoor since mid December 2010 to develop a new look, new marketing materials, and to freshen their marketing approach.  Sometimes it is nice to have someone step in and help with a fresh perspective.  The business card was developed after working on a few other marketing pieces for Durden Outdoor.  The first step in the plan was to begin working on a new website to better represent the billboards offered in the Dothan and surrounding markets.  Once the direction was determined with the new Durden website we made plans for collateral marketing materials.

The business card design features a few design elements to help it stand out.  At first glance you see the QR Code placed on the information side of the business cards.  A QR Code can easily be scanned with most smart phones.  Once scanned it is easy to transfer the information to your contact list without the need to type out all of the information.  QR Codes are a great conversation starter because many people will ask what the QR Code is.

When designing the business card we choose to apply spot UV to give the card a more dynamic appearance.  Spot UV simply means certain parts of the business card are shiny leaving the remaining space matte finish.  Spot UV adds a great effect to business cards to help you stand out in the crowd.

The Durden Outdoor business cards were printed on a heavy 16 pt card stock for a quality feel.  The business cards are printed full bleed meaning the color goes all the way to the edges.  If you have any questions or comments be sure to post up below.

Busted Knuckle Films New Business Cards

Monday, January 24th, 2011

busted_knuckle_business-cards-fPlaying in the dirt, breaking things, going fast, rolling over, flipping, catching on fire, slicing tires, and victory are all things Busted Knuckle Films catches on film to show all of the couch potatoes what it is like to live.  Busted Knuckle Films came onto the scene a little over a year ago with their first DVD highlighting Southern style off-roading at it’s finest. A year has past and a lot more exciting footage has been captured.  Busted Knuckle Films has been putting the work in to step their game up through better equipment and more refined video editing. Be sure to catch some of their upcoming releases.

Busted Knuckle Films is headed out for the 2011 King of the Hammers race in southern California in a couple weeks.  If you know anything about the offroad industry you will know King of the Hammers (KOH) is taking the offroad scene by storm.  Thousands of people are making the trip out to the dry lake bed to create a city called Hammertown to see their favorite drivers take on the impossible race. Busted Knuckle needed some new business cards to hand out.  The business card design had very little input from the client.  Basically I was told to do my thing and make it look cool.  I took the idea of dirt and the desert to create a grunge style business card for Busted Knuckle.  The cards are being printed on matte finish 16 pt card stock.  The matte finish will help give the card an old look and feel.  Not to mention the matte finish will also allow small notes to be written on the business cards if needed.

Let me know what you think.  Leave a comment below.  If you have any questions or would like to hire me to draw some custom business cards for your company be sure to contact me.

Auto Investors Classic Car Business Cards

Monday, January 17th, 2011

autonvest_samplesAuto Investors is a Dothan, Alabama based classic car company.  If you ever watch the Barrett Jackson Auction on television you will have the opportunity to see some of the cars Auto Investors has in inventory.  They have been selling cars at Barrett Jackson for years.  If you are ever in Dothan and want to see some of the coolest classic cars around I recommend stopping by to have a look at their inventory.  Make sure to bring some money along because all of their cars are for sale.

I went by a few days ago to take some pictures for a design project I am working on.  While there I was asked to design some new business cards for them.  I was supplied a picture for the front of the business card.  The picture needed some Photoshop work done to clean up the picture and to make the picture appear to be aged.  I added the text using a color from the aged picture effect and added a red pin stripe to add a little color to the business card design.

The rear face of the business cards was kept very simple.  It has a very light print to preserve the surface for writing notes.  Both the rear and front surfaces of the card will be matte finish to help preserve the classic look.

Business Card Design for Outdoor Logic

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

outdoorlogic_businesscardsI recently completed a new logo design for Outdoor Logic. As soon as Jimmy and crew at Outdoor Logic approved the logo I went to work designing custom business cards to represent their offroad fabrication shop in Riverside, California.  The business card design utilizes the logo design and a couple design elements Outdoor Logic wanted to see.  The old school pin stripe is a design element they liked in a previous design mock I emailed to them so we decided to keep it.  The business cards are full color front and rear with a UV coat placed on the front side only.  The cards were printed on 16 pt card stock for a nice heavy feeling business card.  Check them out and other business card projects here on 509 Media.

Olwin Machine Shop and Fabrication Business Cards

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

Derrick Olwin contacted me wanted a custom business card design different than the typical business cards handed to him daily.  After emailing over the Olwin Machine and Fabrication logo design I went to work creating something to make his customers take a second look.  On the logo side of the card you will see an actual size ruler printed on the card.  The ruler will allow people to measure small items with the business card. My personal background involves metal fabrication and machining, and from experience I can tell you want common objects measure.  For instance when you are out in the field knowing a typical business card measures 2 x 3.5 inches can help you use it as a reference to measure things.  I also know that US paper currency measures 2.5 x 6 inches.  The point is common objects in your pocket can be utilized for secondary roles if needed.  Most people do not realize simple objects can be used to measure things.509_business_cards_olwinmachine

The Olwin Machine shop business card design features Spot UV highlighting the company logo on both sides of the business card.  Spot UV defines certain areas of the business card design to shine and the rest of the print matte finish.  Spot UV creates a feeling of depth in the business card design.

The information side of the business card layout features a simple name plate style design.  The name plate look is similar to those found on machines, electric motors, and other industrial equipment.  The reason why I choose the name plate idea for this business card design was to add something extra rather than simply detailing the name, address, and telephone numbers.

If you would like to talk about business cards designs be sure to contact me anytime.  I am more than certain I can design something to fit any style of business.

James Firearm Business Card Design

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

jamesfirearm_businesscardsJames Firearm has been a great company to work with designing a custom business card and logo design.  The business card design features pictures I took at a local gun store with my Nikon D5000 with a 18-55 lens.  I must admit getting some funny looks as other customs walked by as I positioned .223 rounds in a row for pictures.  For those interested in the pictures I used a little bit of salt on the table to keep the bullets from rolling away while trying to take the picture.  Once the bullets were placed in position I blew any excess salt away.  The information side of the card features a close up image of a Smith and Wesson receiver which was taken with the same camera.
