Frontier 4×4 in Des Moines, IA contacted 509 Media a few weeks ago in dire need of a company logo to more effectively brand their company. Frontier 4×4′s logo design needed to be simple, but serve as a very recognizable marketing tool.  Their logo needed to be simple enough to adapt to different uses.  For instance using the logo on t-shirt designs, business cards, hats, website images, print advertisements, stickers, banners, vehicle wraps, car tags, and embroidery requires a universal and adaptable logo design.  If the design is complicated the appearance can be effected when going from one use to another.

Designing a simple yet recognizable logo / icon is more difficult than many think.  Simple logo designs require more thought to ensure the proper message is conveyed to the potential customer because less is being used to send the message. The Frontier 4×4 logo design process was very involved.  Many sketches were made on paper before heading to the computer.  The logo design process involved answering many questions about the company. The logo was first created as a black and white image.  If a logo does not work in black and white there is no need adding color to the image.  If anyone is interested in seeing the pencil sketches and design process be sure to post a comment below.

• The Logo features two F’s which are angled forward and crossing creating and X at the intersection.  The left side F was reversed to create the effect. The letter F is used in Frontier 4×4 with two different words.  Frontier and Four.
