Small Club Stickers for RC Cars

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

casper-crawlersI was contacted by someone to print some sticker for their RC Crawler Club.  If you do not know what an RC Crawler is I will tell you.  An RC Crawler is a RC car or RC truck with an electric motor used to crawl over rocks.  There is much more to RC rock crawlers than this post will allow.  For more information I would recommend reading RCcrawler.com.

The smallest sticker in this set measures 3/4″ wide.  We can print and cut very small decals for your rc cars or other use.  Another industry where I print a lot of small stickers is the computer industry.  A few computer repair shops buy small stickers to place on computers they repair.

If you are wondering where the “Smiley” on the sticker came from it was made famous on Pirate4x4.com.  Be sure to check out Pirate4x4 for all of the hardcore rock crawler information you can stand.  Pirate4x4 is a website devoted to real vehicles not RC cars.

Stickers Printed for Scale RC Rock Crawler Club

Monday, December 28th, 2009

dsc_8106A fellow member on RC Crawler asked if 509 Media could print small decals to fit on scale RC Rock Crawlers.  Our replay was yes we can.  The client provided the necessary artwork to print.  We created the contour cut for the sticker with the Jeep on it.  A contour cut is a cut in the vinyl matching the outside shape of the sticker. By using a contour cut the sticker has a lot cleaner finish.  The larger stickers in the set measure 2 inches by 2 inches and the smaller ones measure one inch by one inch.

We also printed windshield banners featuring the club name in 2 different sizes for 1/10 and 1/18 scale rc cars. The windshield banners measure 5 inches wide and .25 inch tall.  The stickers were printed on 3m CV3 and laminated to protect the ink.  The laminate not only protects the ink it also adds a high gloss finish to the stickers.  I should note depending on the application and end use we can use a matte finish over laminate to give the sticker a flat finish appearance.  If you need stickers printed be sure to contact us.  We can run small quantities like on this order of large production runs.

I will update the post with pictures of the stickers installed if the client wants to email back a couple images of them install on their RC crawlers.

Vinyl Graphics for Red Bull Rock Crawlers

Dustin and Becca Webster from the Red Bull Rock Crawlers have become great friends over the years. In 2006 I had the opportunity to build them a new and improved competition rock crawler at my former business Blue Torch FabWorks.  Rob “Bender” Park was working for me at the time and was the lead guy on the project.  Bender did an awesome job working with Dustin to get them what they wanted.

The graphics on the crawler were for the most part printed.  The only elements that were simple vinyl cut letters are the driver and spotter name stickers.  Red Bull sent over the official files to print the Red Bull.  Please do not send an email asking for the files because I can not share them with you.

dsc_3006The entire project was a lot of fun.  Even going down to a local dealership to take pictures for the fake tail lights I printed.  If you look close in the artwork you will see a picture of bender holding his hand out with a flame on it.  I decided to put Benders face in the tail light as a little way of saying thanks for all of the effort in helping this project come together.  In the above picture you can see the Blue Torch Fab logo hidden in the other printed tail light wrap.

Check out the pics.  Post a comment below if you want to know more. Visit Blue Torch Fab for more information on the shop.  I sold the business in September 2009 and no longer build rock crawlers as a business.  The new owner, Jason, will be more than happy to assist you if you are looking to have a rock crawler built.

PRP Seats Stickers

PRP Seats Stickers Blue

I have been working with PRP Seats to supply me with seats for custom rock crawlers for many years. I have seen the company change ownership a couple times, but one thing remains the same. PRP suspension seats take care of your back side if you follow what I am saying. Be sure to visit PRP if you are interested in a set of suspension seats.

Griff contacted me about getting some decals printed in time for The Offroad Expo in Pomona, CA. He wanted a couple different colors and wanted them die cut. So we fired up the Mutoh digital printer and slung ink at roughly 1000 stickers. We then loaded them in the plotter to contour cut the custom profile around the decal. I will explain contour cutting versus die cutting in another article.

509 Media is located in Dothan, Alabama. We service vendors around the world with quality graphic design, sticker printing, vehicle wraps, signs, and much more. Be sure to contact us for your next project.
