Woody, your point is very true. A current example is Tiger Woods and the media surrounding his "social mistakes". The social mistakes Tiger Woods made have nothing to do with his skill as a golfer, but public perception is what allows his sponsors to write big checks or not. It is sad how the news and the general public feed off of negativity in other people's lives. You have to wonder what the underlying cause is to our seemingly drama driven society. People like Tiger Woods spend a lot of money for advisers to help promote personal branding, and all of the hard work and years spent polishing an image can go away with one simple mistake.

The hard part about 'personal branding' is living it 24/7...sadly, you often get unfairly judged outside the business environment and those 'social mistakes' get remembered.

Good find on the book! Thanks!
