RC Fun Hobbies Door Magnets

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

dsc_0434RC Fun Hobbies in Dothan, AL called to get a set of door magnets.  We took the business card design we completed a few months back and turned it into a full color door magnet.  Door magnets can be a very effective and low cost way to advertise your business and/or service.  The RC Fun door magnets are printed on high performance 3M CV3 vinyl in full color and laminated with a high performance 3M laminate.  The print is then applied to the magnet.  Once applied the 509 Media crew rounded the door magnet corners to help them resist curling.  Not to mention rounded corners look a lot better.

The RC Fun Hobbies door magnets are 19 inches wide and 14.5 inches tall.  We choose this size to fit most GM trucks and tailgates.  509 Media can design and print door magnets to the size you need.  Just specify height width and we will be happy to quote them for you.

Large Sticker for Shop Door

Monday, June 14th, 2010

dsc_0093Check out the extra large contour cut sticker we installed on the shop door to help advertise our business location. The sticker was printed, laminated, and contour cut to shape.  Now those passing by 509 Media on West Main Street in Dothan, Alabama have something more to see than a shop door on the end of our building.  We can design and print large stickers for your shop doors.  Why not make use of the space on the outside of your building and advertise.  We did use a high performance 3M CV3 vinyl for this application.  We choose this vinyl to make sure we would be able to remove the sticker with ease.  After all we do not need to cause waves with the landlord.  Contact 509 Media today for pricing on your next sign or stickers.

Stickers Printed for Scale RC Rock Crawler Club

Monday, December 28th, 2009

dsc_8106A fellow member on RC Crawler asked if 509 Media could print small decals to fit on scale RC Rock Crawlers.  Our replay was yes we can.  The client provided the necessary artwork to print.  We created the contour cut for the sticker with the Jeep on it.  A contour cut is a cut in the vinyl matching the outside shape of the sticker. By using a contour cut the sticker has a lot cleaner finish.  The larger stickers in the set measure 2 inches by 2 inches and the smaller ones measure one inch by one inch.

We also printed windshield banners featuring the club name in 2 different sizes for 1/10 and 1/18 scale rc cars. The windshield banners measure 5 inches wide and .25 inch tall.  The stickers were printed on 3m CV3 and laminated to protect the ink.  The laminate not only protects the ink it also adds a high gloss finish to the stickers.  I should note depending on the application and end use we can use a matte finish over laminate to give the sticker a flat finish appearance.  If you need stickers printed be sure to contact us.  We can run small quantities like on this order of large production runs.

I will update the post with pictures of the stickers installed if the client wants to email back a couple images of them install on their RC crawlers.

Country Crossing

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

country-crossCountry Crossing in Dothan, AL is set for this week’s grand opening.  I got a call from a friend’s sign shop today for a last minute sign.  Country Crossing needed a sign for the entrance to the Fairground Area of the facility.  The sign is 4 foot x 8 foot.  It is printed on 3M Controltac Vinyl.  The vinyl will be placed on Coroplast.

Coroplast can be described as plastic cardboard. “Coroplast comes in a variety of styles, all based upon the Coroplast high quality corrugated plastic sheet. Our standard sheet has been treated to allow for excellent adhesion quality to aid in printing for the graphics arts fields. It is also extremely durable because it is waterproof and resistant to stains and most chemicals.”  For more information be sure to visit the Coroplast website.  I like to use Coroplast because it is very easy to cut to custom shapes.  Coroplast cancoro9 be cut to the shape of your logo or design.  I printed a life size person a while back and applied it to Coroplast.  I then cut out the person on the Coroplast to make it a stand up sign.

Be sure to visit the Country Crossing website.  Country Crossing is a good thing for the Dothan area.  It will bring big named entertainers to the area.  The facility will help add to the local economy as people will be traveling from other areas for the live music and other entertainment.  I personally feel it is a good thing for the area.

PLEASE NOTE. I DID NOT DESIGN THE LOGO OR THE SIGN.  I PRINTED WHAT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY ANOTHER DESIGNER HERE IN TOWN.

Tailgate Wraps For Your Truck Or SUV

Bluetorchfab Tailgate Wrap

Tailgate Wrap

Over the past few years I have printed a few tailgate wraps to advertise my own business. During which a few friends and customers have asked me to design tailgate wraps for their trucks. A tailgate wrap is referring to wrapping ONLY the tailgate of a pickup or SUV. This is a very cost effective way to advertise your company and keep the cost way down.

Typically a tailgate wrap can be purchased and installed for under $250 dollars. The price has a lot to do with how much time is spent on the design. In other words if you want a complicated design then the price will reflect the added time needed to complete the project.

I would like to point out you do not have to use this to only advertise a business. If you want a custom scene on the tailgate just for the purpose of adding some style and color to your truck then we can do mix it up for you.

If you would like to get started on a tailgate wrap be sure to CONTACT 509 Media for details.

I have done tailgate wraps for Chevy, Dodge, Ford, and Toyota trucks. If I do not have a template for your truck I can make one very easily.

Desktop Wrap

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

dsc_3875A few years ago I wrapped my desktop.  It always made for a good conversation sitting at the desk.  When people would ask, “Why the one hundred dollar bill?”  I would simply reply, “At least now there is no mistake what we are sitting here talking about, money”.

509 Media can design and print a table top or desk top wrap for you.  We use 3M Controltac vinyl and laminate it to protect the ink.  We can do anything from a crazy graphic to incorporating your company logo into the design.  Other good places to consider this type of print would be a sales counter, conference room table, trade show table tops, and more.

Longview Driveshaft Fusion Chassis Vehicle Wrap

Monday, November 16th, 2009

longview-driveshaftLongview Driveshaft is located in the great state of Texas. They say everything is bigger in Texas. Cecil and his wife have a very good business going. Be sure to check out Longview Driveshaft on the web.  I can honestly say Cecil and his wife have become more than a customer to me.  They are valued friends.  They will go out of their way to help others when in need.  If you are in need of a new driveshaft be sure to contact them for a great product.

Cecil purchased a Fusion Chassis from me back in my Blue Torch Fab days.  He built out the chassis at his shop in Texas using a lot of Blue Torch Fab products.  In the end the project turned out very nice.  They had a local company vinyl cut some decals for the Fusion Chassis, but they were not up to par with the quality of the rig.  So, Cecil called me and asked to design and print a wrap for his chassis.  His request was simple.  He wanted his company name on the wrap and the rest was left to me.  After getting the wrap printed I rolled it up and stuffed it in a tube for the UPS driver to pick up the next day. The wrap on this project is considered a “half wrap”.  It only wraps the sides of the vehicle.

For those they are wondering this wrap was printed on Avery 1005 ez rs.  Avery has been good to me over the years.  I have traveled cross country to display vehicles for them in sign trade shows and more.  In return I have been hooked up with some goodies from the UPS man Avery style.

For more information on the Blue Torch FabWorks’ Fusion Chassis please visit the Blue Torch Fab website.  The Fusion Chassis is offered in a 2 seater form or as a 4 seat chassis.  It has become the standard in Jeep based tube chassis design.

RC Rock Crawler Wrap Losi MRC

Monday, November 16th, 2009

dsc_6679I have been involved in the sport and business of rock crawling for many years.  I built an internationally known business building real rock crawlers and parts for them.  Along the way I found an interest in radio control rock crawlers.  RC rock crawling over the years has developed from people who have the real ones to those who only do rc.  I never thought I would meet someone who knew nothing of the full size industry but I did.

I have owned many different rc rock crawlers.  I have even built a few custom tube chassis my rc rock crawlers.  While messing around with the cars I began printing wraps for them.  Wraps are graphics printed on 3M vinyl just like we use to wrap a real car.  I bought a Losi MRC 1/18 scale rock crawler for my son.  I left the hobby store and went straight to my shop to design and print a custom wrap for him.  At the time I was still involved with Blue Torch Fab so the wrap has BTF all over it.

The graphic kit pictured can be purchased from here on 509 Media or through TCS Crawlers. It is a quick easy way to change out the boring graphics on the stock Losi MRC.  Installing the wrap is very easy.  First remove the factory stickers.  Clean the lexan body with a little alcohol.  Make sure it is dry.  Then place the wrap on each panel and make sure to push any air bubbles out.  You should not have an issue with bubbles because of the vinyl used.  It is the same 3M Controltac vinyl we use to wrap vehicle and trailers. btf_losimrcwrap

Losi is a great company.  I was introduced to Bill Jeric, the president of Horizon Hobbies / Losi in 2008 at the Off-Road Expo in Pomona, CA.  After the show Bill and I got on the phone and exchanged ideas through email.  When the 2.2 Losi Rock Crawler was introduced a few months back we help with a promotional giveaway on Pirate4x4.

if you have an RC body and think there is a need in the rc industry for a wrap kit please contact me.  In the message please include what the body if used for and the model of the body.  We can also build graphic kits for RC planes, boats, and more.
