fresh_trucking-business-cardsFresh Starts Transportation and Produce contacted me a few months ago about building a custom business card design for their trucking / produce company.  The company operates two separate divisions to focus on transportation and the other to broker produces goods.  The client’s suggestion was to incorporate a lot of different information on the card to highlight each business.  We recommended to Fresh Starts to keep the business card design simple in an effort not confuse people.  Fresh Starts did not have a well defined company logo, but I was able to take a concept they had going and polish the look.  Based of of the information given we designed a clean professional looking business card to represent their trucking and produce business.

The business cards will feature spot UV.  The yellow section of the business cards front and rear will not be coated.  The remaining section of the card will be UV coated to make it shiny.  The client will be able to write on the matte finish areas of the cards if needed.

Be sure to CONTACT me for information on getting a custom business card designed for your business, club, or other organization.

QR Code Business Card Design Durden Outdoor

Saturday, February 26th, 2011

qr-code-business-cardsThe Durden Outdoor business card project is much more involved than what appears when reading this blog post.  I have been working with Durden Outdoor since mid December 2010 to develop a new look, new marketing materials, and to freshen their marketing approach.  Sometimes it is nice to have someone step in and help with a fresh perspective.  The business card was developed after working on a few other marketing pieces for Durden Outdoor.  The first step in the plan was to begin working on a new website to better represent the billboards offered in the Dothan and surrounding markets.  Once the direction was determined with the new Durden website we made plans for collateral marketing materials.

The business card design features a few design elements to help it stand out.  At first glance you see the QR Code placed on the information side of the business cards.  A QR Code can easily be scanned with most smart phones.  Once scanned it is easy to transfer the information to your contact list without the need to type out all of the information.  QR Codes are a great conversation starter because many people will ask what the QR Code is.

When designing the business card we choose to apply spot UV to give the card a more dynamic appearance.  Spot UV simply means certain parts of the business card are shiny leaving the remaining space matte finish.  Spot UV adds a great effect to business cards to help you stand out in the crowd.

The Durden Outdoor business cards were printed on a heavy 16 pt card stock for a quality feel.  The business cards are printed full bleed meaning the color goes all the way to the edges.  If you have any questions or comments be sure to post up below.

Olwin Machine Shop and Fabrication Business Cards

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

Derrick Olwin contacted me wanted a custom business card design different than the typical business cards handed to him daily.  After emailing over the Olwin Machine and Fabrication logo design I went to work creating something to make his customers take a second look.  On the logo side of the card you will see an actual size ruler printed on the card.  The ruler will allow people to measure small items with the business card. My personal background involves metal fabrication and machining, and from experience I can tell you want common objects measure.  For instance when you are out in the field knowing a typical business card measures 2 x 3.5 inches can help you use it as a reference to measure things.  I also know that US paper currency measures 2.5 x 6 inches.  The point is common objects in your pocket can be utilized for secondary roles if needed.  Most people do not realize simple objects can be used to measure things.509_business_cards_olwinmachine

The Olwin Machine shop business card design features Spot UV highlighting the company logo on both sides of the business card.  Spot UV defines certain areas of the business card design to shine and the rest of the print matte finish.  Spot UV creates a feeling of depth in the business card design.

The information side of the business card layout features a simple name plate style design.  The name plate look is similar to those found on machines, electric motors, and other industrial equipment.  The reason why I choose the name plate idea for this business card design was to add something extra rather than simply detailing the name, address, and telephone numbers.

If you would like to talk about business cards designs be sure to contact me anytime.  I am more than certain I can design something to fit any style of business.

QR Code Spyder Offroad Business Cards

What is a QR Code?

A QR Code is a two dimensional matrix bar code.  The creator of the code intended for a “Quick Response” when reading the code.  QR Code readers are now available on most smart phones.  You can use specific apps to read them.  I use Google Goggles to read QR Codes as well as other bar codes.

Why use a QR Code?

QR Codes are a simple fast way to gather contact information into your smart phone.  If someone hands you a business card with a QR code simply scan the code and import the information directly into your phone.  No need to type the information.

business_cards_spyder_offroadSpyder Off-Road contacted 509 Media to design a business card using their existing logo design.  After a short phone conversation it was decided to go with spot UV on the business card design to add dimension and extra flare to the business card layout. Spot UV is a process which defines what areas on the business cards will be matte finish and what areas will shine.  In the case of the Spyder Off-Road business cards we have the logo and spiderweb on one side of the card defined for spot UV, and on the opposite side of the business card the logo and spider are defined for spot uv.  In the image attached we have the spot areas of the card show as a gray color.  The gray will not be printed. Only the UV coating will be applied in these areas.

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

inflatables_business_cards

Lil Shorty’s Inflatables is a Dothan, AL based inflatables company.  Inflatables are the bounce around, or jump around houses you see at kid events.  If you are having a birthday party or event where a Lil Shorty’s Inflatable will entertain be sure to call them.

When Slil_shorty_fronthorty came to 509 Media for graphic design help he had generic business cards that begged to have you remember them.  Because of the budget on this project we choose to use an image on their business cards and yard signs that grab attention and make you remember the company.  Sometimes a simple picture can speak volumes.  The thought behind using this picture was everyone we showed the proof to smiled, and the kids wanted to check out the business card also.  The same look will be used on some other marketing materials for the inflatable company.

lil_shorty_backThe business cards are being printed on 16 pt card stock and spot UV is being applied to the card to make selected areas shine.  On the front side of the business card the spot UV will be applied to the kid, Lil Shorty’s Inflatables, and their tag line.  The rest of the business card will be matte finish.  It should create a dynamic look for the business cards.

Blue Torch FabWorks Off-Road Business Card Design

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

bluetorchfab_business_cardsBlue Torch FabWorks is a world leader in off-road vehicle fabrication.  The Bluetorchfab business cards for Jason Carner feature a new look for the company.  Bluetorchfab (BTF) has a well established brand in the off-road industry and sometimes a fresh look will make people take a second look.  Our friends over at Magnum Ink in Las Vegas nailed a new t-shirt design for Bluetorchfab.  The new look was incorporated into the business card design.  Well the 509 crew did change things up just a little to add some color.

The business cards will feature spot UV on certain areas of the business cards to give them more pop when a potential customer checks out the business card.  The pictures listed below will detail the spot UV areas.  Check out the black and white copies.  The solid black areas will receive spot UV and the white areas will be left with a matte finish.  If you notice the Bluetorchfab branding will be the only areas to receive spot UV making them stand out on the front and rear of the business cards.

Woodland Car Care Business Cards with Spot UV

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

woodland_car_wash_business_cardsA few months back 509 Media began working on a logo design, stickers, and other marketing materials for Woodland Car Care.  Woodland is a car wash and car detailing company.  The owner of the car wash wanted custom business cards to reflect a modern image.  The business cards feature spot uv which makes only certain sections of the business card shine.  Spot uv works to give the card depth.  When placing a business card like the Woodland Car Care in front of people they can not help to pick it up and check it out.

The car wash business cards were printed in full color on 16 pt card stock.  Woodland Car Care ordered 10,000 business cards to help kick start the new car wash business.  10,000 cards typically start at 160 dollars and go up depending on options like spot uv or rounded corners.  Call 509 Media today if you would like to get started on custom business cards for your business.

Check out the pictures of the cards printed below.  In the pictures you can see how spot uv adds to the look and feel of the business cards.  You will be able to see more in the angle shots.  Spot UV can be difficult to capture in a picture.

Designed a new 509 Media Business Card

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

509_dan_bizcardIt has been over a month since moving 509 Media into the new Dothan, Alabama location.  Until today I could not decide what to do for my own business card design. I forced myself to sit down for a while today and bang out a new business card design for 509 Media.  The design is a little plain but the “Spot UV” effect will make the business cards look very cool.

Spot UV is a process that makes only certain parts of the business card shine.  Normally a UV coating covers the entire surface of the card.  On this design I wanted to make the card standout when compared to other business cards around town.  In the black and white pictures below you will see the areas that will receive the Spot UV treatment.  On the front side of the business card I do not have “GRAPHIC DESIGN” printed on the card.  The Spot UV effect will make the letters show.  I will post up additional pictures when we finish them.

Here is a picture of the Spot UV area and the print for the front of the business card.  Keep in mind the only areas of the card that will shine are the areas in the black and white image below the actual print.

Below are pictures of the rear of the 509 Media business card.  You will see the printed image.  The print features an area to write quotes and/or notes.  The black and white image is the area that will receive Spot UV.
